Film Poster Designs:

This is the film magazine poster design that features our new original feature film 'A Winters Love'. The film poster is a stereotypical poster for a romantic drama that follows all conventions of a film poster. This is a benefit for our film poster due to it catching the eyes of our 15-25 year old females target audience. The main image is aimed towards our chosen target audience in order to give an insight to the type of film it is promoting as well as giving viewers an image that they can enjoy that makes them want to watch the film due to it being within their interest and catching their attention.

Colour Scheme:
The background (although not shown in the drawn design above) is set at night but the surrounding lights brighten up the background. It gives the poster more of a romantic feel due to the dimmed atmosphere and street lights surrounding the couple. The couple are dressed in winter clothing due to the film being set in the winter therefore the clothing is deep and dark colours instead of bright, loud colours. The deep and dark colours throughout add to the winter feel of the film and really sets the scene.

Main Image:
The main image is set outside with the winter lights glowing in the background behind the couple where the women is looking passionately into the mans eyes. The image allows the audience to get a feel that 'A Winter Love' is a film from the romantic genre. The winter lights in the background give the photo more of a warming feel to it despite it being set outside and allows the characters to glow. The characters are wearing relatively dark clothing which allows the characters to glow and stand out from the dark but lit up background, it is a great contrast between the two.

Title, Tagline and Billing Block:
The title is centred in the middle of the poster this is conventional for a typical film poster as the main imagine draws in the most attention which is typically placed in the middle of the poster therefore it makes sense to locate the title where the most attraction will be drawn. The title is in a font that represents the romantic genre and will be coloured black in order to make it stand out amongst the coloured background of the characters. The tagline is located directly below the main title which is also conventional for a film poster, by having it located underneath the main title also allows more attention to be drawn towards it as when reading the title you will continue to read the writing below. The tagline is also black in order for it to stand out and is also in a different font to the rest of the writing on the poster. This makes the tagline easily identifiable for the audience as well as it being conventional. The billing block is located at the bottom of the page where it is on the majority of film posters this is conventional as well as the style and layout matching the guidelines of a billing block.

My final digital film poster:
The final digital film poster follows the aims and ideas I had within my drawn version. The scene is set outside at night with the outside lights brightening up the dark background as well as adding the romantic feel between the two characters which also corresponds to the romantic genre. The writing throughout the poster is all in white text this is so it stands out and is visually appealing as well as being noticeable. The image fades into darkness towards the top of the poster which leads towards the actors names giving it the feel of their names being stars. The majority of the writing is set in the centre of the poster which draws the most attention and brings the natural eye straight towards the main image also.
